His roles as a Design Manager, Project Manager, and team leader have equipped him with comprehensive knowledge in managing and overseeing various aspects of projects. Having worked for Grid Operators (DNO/DSO) and renewable energy/storage developers, Vimal has a deep understanding of both the technical and operational sides of the industry.

My Story
I commenced my career as an application engineer at Brush in Blackwood. During my tenure at Brush, I acquired valuable experience in the engineering standards of UK Distribution Network Operators (DNOs). Subsequently, I transitioned to various DNOs, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and developers to cultivate a comprehensive understanding of the United Kingdom's electricity market and its regulations.
In my most recent roles, I have overseen significant projects involving the replacement of major assets (Extra High Voltage) and the development of grid connection projects for both DNOs and Transmission System Operators (TSOs) in the UK. These responsibilities include leading project teams consisting of surveyors, wayleave officers, system study engineers, civil/structural engineers, and designers for substations, cables, and overhead lines. Additionally, I fulfill the duties of a Principal Designer for clients under CDM 2015 regulations and actively contribute to the appointment of Principal Contracts (PCs) for projects with a value of up to £50 million.
Among my past accomplishments is the successful commissioning of the UK's largest grid-scale battery storage project for Low Carbon (UK). Furthermore, I have executed numerous assignments for energy storage developers and battery technology providers in the UK. My involvement extended to developing financial models for grid-scale and behind-the-meter battery projects in the UK. Moreover, I possess expert knowledge regarding the feasibility of multi-revenue stacking, anticipated Return on Investment (ROI), and associated risks for distributed generation and energy storage projects in the UK.
Proficient in understanding CAPEX, OPEX, RIIO-ED, and Grid code, I am well-versed in the commercial and contractual context within which energy storage and DNO projects are executed. Alongside my technical responsibilities, I have cultivated a solid working understanding of regulatory frameworks, Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mechanisms, contract law and agreements, and the broader macroeconomic landscape in which the energy and infrastructure sector operates globally.
